ARTIST STATEMENT
I am drawn towards nature; I take something from it, a texture, an image, a color and try to expand upon it. I seek to observe, live, register so that later I create works with another materiality. How to bring nearer remote and beautiful places? How to share them? In life, I encounter landscapes, patterns, bodies. Immense places, tiny details. Repeating patterns with perfectly imperfect geometries. Both in nature and in our bodies what we have experienced is engraved, and the context to which they and we were exposed. Ancient sediments, one layer after another, telling us what happened on our planet. Our hands register in their palm our stories. I strive to make visible everything we have in common and what differentiates us in our structures. To find an excuse to feel, touch, imagine landscapes that hypnotize, communicate and alert us. Contact in a remote context, almost inaccessible, allows me to invent, to go towards a new way and to later inhabit everyday spaces and moments through my work. Travelling is part of my research. Experiences, sketches, an open studio, a laboratory; I go outside and go back to the inside. Other times it takes the opposite direction, it is born in the studio and I look for it to come out, always generating a new path. Molds, modules, individual pieces in various materials that, together, create different shapes that expand the field of what is possible. Fragmentation as a starting point for a continuous, permanent expansion.
MANIFIESTO DE ARTISTA
Voy hacia la naturaleza, tomo algo de ella, una textura, una imagen, un color e intento expandirla. Busco observar, vivir, registrar, para después hacer obra con otra materialidad. ¿Cómo acercar lugares remotos y bellos? ¿Cómo compartirlos? Encuentro por la vida paisajes, tramas, cuerpos. Lugares inmensos, detalles minúsculos. Patrones que se repiten con geometrías perfectamente imperfectas. Tanto en la naturaleza como en nuestros cuerpos se graba lo vivido, el contexto al cual fueron y fuimos expuestos. Sedimentos milenarios, una capa tras otra contándonos lo que sucedió en nuestro planeta. Nuestras manos registran en su palma nuestras historias. Busco hacer visible todo lo que tenemos en común y aquello que en nuestras estructuras, nos diferencia. Encontrar una excusa para sentir, tocar, pensar paisajes que nos hipnotizan, nos comunican y alertan. El contacto en un contexto remoto, casi inaccesible, me permite inventar, ir hacia una nueva forma para después habitar a través de mi obra los espacios y momentos cotidianos. Viajar es parte de mi investigación. Experiencias, bocetos, un estudio abierto, un laboratorio; voy hacia el afuera y vuelvo al adentro. Otras veces toma el sentido opuesto, nace en el estudio y busco que salga, siempre generando un nuevo camino. Moldes, módulos, piezas individuales en diversos materiales que, en conjunto, componen distintas formas que amplían el campo de lo posible. La fragmentación como punto de partida de una expansión continua, permanente.
